Yoga Pilates

Since the surge in popularity in yoga/Pilates, many people are confused as far as the differences in the types of workouts. Some people seem to think that they are basically the same thing. This is not true. There are some very distinct differences in the workouts.

One thing that may be contributing to the confusion is the fact that there are a lot of yoga-Pilates studios out there where both are taught. This is why some people think they are the same thing. If you ask an instructor or read a couple books on the subjects, you will learn the differences.

While they are different, many people do take yoga & Pilates at the same time. They are different classes, but the two workouts actually compliment each other quite nicely. Yoga focuses a lot of stretching and flexibility, and Pilates focuses on strength. If you combine the two you get a nicely rounded workout.
